Frankston Nature Conservation Reserve

Is now open to the public.

Frankston Nature Conservation Reserve is 3.5 kilometres south-east of the Frankston City Centre and occupies an area of 98 hectares in total. The 10 hectare impoundment for the water body was built in 1921 on the east branch of Sweetwater Creek, with a capacity of 660 megalitres.

  • Opening Hours - Thursday to Sunday 10.00am to 5.00pm
  • Last entry to trails at 4.00pm
  • Reserve is closed on Good Friday and Christmas Day
  • Reserve will be closed on days of Total Fire Ban and extreme weather conditions
  • There are no toilet or rubbish facilities. Please take your rubbish with you
  • For the protection of flora and fauna, pets are not allowed in the reserve and regulations apply
  • There is only one entry to the reserve for biosecurity reasons

This has been a huge effort from the original Friends of Frankston Reservoir, now known as Friends of Frankston Nature Conservation Reserve, and the Community Committee of Management
