Permit Application: 36 Airlie Grove, Seaford

Postby Noel Tudball » Thu Oct 19, 2017 4:44 pm

(With apologies to the owner.)

We have received this Group Objection from concerned residents (see below).
Contact SeafordCC@gmail.com for questions or assistance.

NOTE that all objections must be signed and contain your address (use the form attached below as a guide or use the sample Objection).
Some comments by other residents:
  1. Although similar Permits have been granted previously, this one could be used as a call to "draw a line in the sand" and prevent similar Permits being granted in the future
  2. Council should be encouraged to require a strict planting guide that would retain character of street and wetland aspect rather than fight a losing battle against the development occurring, i.e. Exercise more control on how it is developed
  3. The height of the buildings should not create a visual impact that can be seen across the wetland. The high roofed house nearby at 6 Wilson Grove can be seen from every angle across the wetland
Planning Permit Application No 161/2017/P

A Residents Discussion Meeting has been called for:

========================

Hi fellow Seaford residents,

I am writing to you as Seaford residents about a proposed development on the edge of the Seaford Wetlands at 36 Airlie Grove, Seaford. The Friends of Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands Inc has submitted an objection to the development on behalf of the wetlands. But it is not only the wetlands that are affected.

As a Seaford resident, if you are concerned about an ever-increasing number of developments whereby one dwelling is removed from a single block and replaced with looming double-storey, double-unit dwellings involving is a massive loss of gardens, canopy trees, urban fauna, and a sense of spaciousness, then you might be interested in putting your name to a group objection from Seaford residents.

Admittedly, objections relying mostly on the notion of ‘neighbourhood character’ don’t fly well at Council but it is still important that Council know how its residents feel. If these things constantly go unchallenged then developments will continue at an accelerated rate and our beautiful Seaford will change forever.

Attached is a copy of the objection. If you wish to add your name (and address will be needed, and an email address would be good as well) and get back to me via email or phone.
The procedure is this:
An objection is lodged.
To enable discussion between objectors, applicant and Council officers regarding the objections and related issues, you will be invited to a Residents Discussion Meeting. You do not have to attend (but it would be good if you could).
The matter be decided at a future Council Meeting. You do not have to attend (but it would be good if you could).
If you would like to add your name, please let me know as soon as possible.

Thankyou,
