February 2017 Update ... & a Grant!

DECP has had a good start to the year with an early January visit on site with 5 councillors including 2 new to Council to discuss the current status of the project and works that would be needed for public use. These include improvements to the shed and collection of water on the site as well as path making and furniture installation. They were very interested and supportive. The application for a licence to start activities is currently being processed.
We are also very excited that a grant to DECP of $10,000 from the Westernport Biosphere has been approved for creating a wildlife corridor at the Northern end of the Estate with revegetation of native trees. This will assist wildlife to move through the Estate and on to further habitats. Council Officers have been helpful in this process and we are together working towards a public planting event of these trees in May. At last count, our existing trees planted in November are surviving.
