Australia Day

Postby Noel Tudball » Tue Jun 18, 2013 10:48 pm

We have in mind a celebration of Australia Day for ALL Australians - old and new - near the Seaford Community Centre (Hall).

An event like this will only be successful if you, your organization or company elect to organize and/or sponsor an activity for the day.
Please contact us if you'd like to participate.

We've already confirmed several activities, but need more to make organizing an event worthwhile.
Get involved - come and join us.

Australia Day Afternoon Family Day

Some very quick ideas.

Include all "Seaford" community groups - rotary, lions, football clubs, scouts, guides, CFA, police, churches, ABA etc
maybe even schools could have a "Prep" tent as it is just before the start of the new school year.
they could set up "tents" to promote what they do
Aged Care facilities bring their residents - maybe the Scouts/Guides help them. Set up afternoon tea tents for them.
Kids entertainment - face-painting, balloons, animal farm
local Music groups

Sell sites for food and drink vendors that would raise enough money to pay for the day and have prizes for community groups.
All the groups could go in the draw for $'s raised from the day for example third prize $200, 2nd $500 and 1st $1000
or get prizes sponsored by local businesses - like banks, real estate companies, bunnings, Masters, harvey norman, Dick Smith

Get local businesses to sponsor the event. eg Woolworth's/Coles to donate lamingtons that could be sold to raise money for prizes.
Does the Australia Day Council have money available for community events on Australia Day?

What's in it for Seaford - another great reason to live in Seaford with all community groups getting publicity of the upcoming event and media coverage of the event on the day.

Being an annual event it would put Seaford in the media for effectively 3 months of the year.

You could even call for nominations of "local" australians of the year and winners could be guests at the official Australia Day Breakfast for FCC. it would mean a lot for our "local heros" to go such an important event.
