BIO – Dr Dina McMillan, PhD
Dr Dina McMillan is a social psychologist with both a Master’s degree and PhD from Stanford University in California. Like the FBI specialists who profile criminals, Dr McMillan has profiled the unique psychology of emotional abusers. This understanding has allowed her to identify the key tactics usedto set up and maintain abusive relationships.

This is critical – it provides the first effective, easily understood prevention information in the field of domestic violence.

Dr McMillan has published a ground-breaking book on this topic, But He Says He Loves Me: How to Avoid Being Trapped in a Manipulative Relationship (Allen & UnwinPublishers). This book is distributed in fourteen countries and several languages. Expanded and customised versions of this innovative work have been used by a range of professionals throughout Australia, the US and the UK.

Dr Dina McMillan is married with one child and lives outside Melbourne. She’s currently working on a number of abuse prevention programs including comprehensive projects with local governments, a series of mother-daughter seminars, andprojects targeting young women.
