Email received from FCC:

Frankston City Council is currently developing a Coastal Management Plan for the foreshore stretching from Keast Park in Seaford to Davey’s Bay in Frankston South.

The plan will provide vision and direction to manage the future of Frankston City’s Foreshore from 2016-2025.

The Plan will provide clear directions to:
• Protect key coastal values – environmental, heritage, economic and recreational
• Guide use and development
• Give residents and key stakeholders opportunity to provide input into management of the area
• Define roles and responsibilities of the various stakeholders

Currently an online survey, open to all visitors / users of the Frankston City foreshore, is available on Council’s website at http://www.frankston.vic.gov.au.

Further information about the development of the Coastal Management plan will also be regularly posted on Council’s website.
We look forward to your involvement.

Meeting on 17th February, 2015
To discuss issues related to the City's entire foreshore from Keast Park in Seaford to Davey’s Bay in Frankston South, I joined representatives from other Community Groups at an FCC-facilitated community consultation meeting on 17th February, 2015. Small groups discussed the topics of “What do you like?”, “What do you want to see changed?” and “What do you want to see in the future?”

Photos of the lists of issues raised on the night are posted below.

Key points:
  • Analysis of issues and information - March 2015
  • Discussion of issues and actions with other agencies - April 2015
  • Discussion paper for comment - Jun/Jul 2015
  • Draft plan - Jun/Jul 2015
  • Members of the public were surveyed on the City’s foreshores over December and January and respondents said they came to swim, walk, relax, etc. They were impressed with how clean the areas were. Improvements they requested included better access, (including increased parking) reduced anti-social behaviour and better dog management
