Broughton St parking - back to angle parking
Posted: Fri Nov 20, 2015 5:24 pmAt the 16th November Council meeting, Councillors voted unanimously to restore the recently-converted parking (from angle to parallel) back to angle parking.
Congratulations to the local residents who created and signed a petition to have the parking style restored - democracy in action.
The winning arguments were:
- Councillors (and residents and businesses) were not consulted about the change beforehand
- Angle parking is much quicker and easier to enter and leave, reducing traffic snarls, danger and frustration
- The change had resulted in:
- a narrower roadway for passing vehicles
- danger to occupants entering and alighting vehicles - especially parents with young children and older people with walkers, etc.
