Community Groups - share our Seaford Farmers' Market stall

Postby Noel Tudball » Tue Sep 30, 2014 7:41 pm

We first attended the Market in Sept 2014.

The use of this shared stall has grown to become a valuable opportunity for local community groups to network and share their own information and resources!
It’s a great activity, full of great people and very enjoyable, with many engagement opportunities.

Local community groups are invited to apply to share our stall for networking and promotion of their services (space and weather willing). Refer Guest Guidelines below.

The Seaford Farmers' Market is run by the Frankston Rotary Club and is held between 8am - 1pm on the third Sunday of every month.

It is located between the Seaford Community Centre and Kananook Creek, near the - Seaford Community Centre
Note that our stall is usually in a different position each month - we try to fill any gaps.

The SCC is proud to be a part of the Seaford Farmers' Market. We manage and share our stall with other local community groups for networking and promotion of services and activities. We attend to raise awareness of issues, gain support for SCC’s activities, have surveys completed, receive new issues and email addresses for our irregular Newsletters.

Melinda runs a free book club (https://www.facebook.com/123Read2Me), obtaining unwanted children's books and giving them to others, so the books are a giveaway / drawcard that attracts the punters (sorry, people) to our stall. People also drop off unwanted books for sharing with others.

Since our first stall at the September 2014 market, we shared the stall with:

- 123Read2Me - Free Community Book Program - https://www.facebook.com/123Read2Me
- Down's Estate Community Working Group - http://www.seafordcc.org/DECP
- Belvedere Community Centre - http://www.belvedere.org.au
- Seaford Housing Action Coalition (SHAC) - http://www.seafordcc.org/SHAC
- Kananook Creek Association - http://kananookcreekassociation.org/
- sporting clubs
- special interest / issue groups, and
- many others

If you know of any local clubs (sporting, etc.) that may be interested, please ask them to contact us.

Guest Guidelines:
  • the Seaford Farmers' Market is held every 3rd Sunday of every month of the year
  • setup starts at 7 am
  • the market runs from 8 am – 1 pm
  • the busiest time is usually between 10 and 12
  • local community groups are invited to apply to share our stall for networking and promotion of their services
    - preference is given to groups that are local to Seaford
    - acceptance of a group's application is decided on a case-by-case basis
  • guests are welcome to bring items of interest to catch the eye of passersby, including handouts, flyers, posters, chalkboard, banner, sandwich board, etc.
  • if you want to sell or give away anything we need to get approval from Frankston Rotary (to avoid competition for other stall holders)
  • participating groups are required to provide a suitable representative/s to attend and/or provide flyers/information for us to hand out for you
  • we are required to remain within the general confines of our stall area, ensuring that the main walkway through the market is clear, so as to not impede visitors' access
  • we always maintain the Market's friendly ambience by ensuring that all discussions are harmonious
  • SCC and Rotary reserve the right to determine appropriate displays and activities
  • Rotary has ruled out political groups and activities - this is also inline with our apolitical practices
  • https://www.rotaryfrankston.org.au/market-stallholder-rules
For our purposes, a community group is defined as an Incorporated or non-Incorporated not for profit or non-profit. No person or persons can make a profit from excess funds raised by the organisation and all funds raised go back into the purpose or common cause of the group.
